The new company is based on the same model as for our Glyngøre company, where the employees become partners – and thus the two members of the staff in Frederikshavn, the 48-year-old Hans Thomsen and the 27-year-old Kaspar Haller Jensen, will both be co-owners in the form of shares in the new company. Hans Thomsen has many years’ of experience with transportation to/from the Scandinavian market, and he is appointed Operational Manager for the company’s Scandinavian Service, comprising road carriages to and from Scandinavia.Kaspar Haller Jensen comes from a job with M.A.N. Diesel in Frederikshavn, and he is appointed Operational Manager for the company’s Global Service, which includes a wide range of transportation, such as road carriages to the continent, and sea, air and courier freight worldwide. With their good knowledge of North Jutland Hans Thomsen and Kaspar Haller Jensen’s jobs will be to further develop and expand the business with several new customers from the area. As of January 1, 2011, we also employed a new shipping agent trainee to assist in the different tasks in the new company. The transition to an independent company is part of our strategy to market our products in a new area and to strengthen our department and our position in North Jutland. And this will be effected by organising the company according to the same principles as for the mother company of INTERFJORD A/S. The mother company is constructed with 4 employees, being partners in the company, and by making our key employees in North Jutland partners also in the new company we add dynamics and motivating force, thus giving ourselves very good conditions for growth and development opportunities in an area with such great potential. With the combination of many years’ experience with good relations to customers and a solid piece of sales work and the implementation of new products we already have a good foundation for the new company, which will be marketed as INTERFJORD Local Support – Global Transport, and the forward-looking work will still be the further development of our products by means of high quality and a specifically good service, thus creating values for our customers and our company. The board of the new company consists of the two new partners, Hans Thomsen and Kaspar Haller Jensen, together with the partners of the mother company, chairman Casper Christensen, and Henrik Markussen, Claus Laustsen and Jens Holmgaard Pedersen.” 2011-01-01 As of January 1, 2011 we employed Kristina Carøe Nicolajsen as a trainee. Kristina will be working as a supporter in Global Service in Frederikshavn, where she takes care of booking and customer service in the department, just as she will often be in our courier car collecting the daily goods. 2011-01-01 As from January 1, 2011, new INCOTERMS become effective: The changes are as follows: DAF, DES, DEQ and DDU are removed, and the following terms are included: DAP – delivered at place DAT – delivered at terminal 2010-08-15 As of September 1, 2010 we employed Kristian Bækkedal Dalgaard as a trainee. For a start Kristian’s daily work will be in Global Service in Glyngøre, where he takes care of booking and customer service of courier products, just as he will often be visiting our customers in connection with the daily collection tour. 2010-02-08 Marpol charge as per February 1, 2010 New threshold limit values for content of sulphur in fuel oil During 2010 the MARPOL requirements will be considerably changed as regards the shipping business within the ECA (Emission Control Area) of the Baltic Sea and the North Sea. As of January 1, 2010 only oil with a maximum of 0.1% content of sulphur (Gas oil) may be used when staying in port. The ferry companies demand a compensation for the increased costs - and they have already as of January 1 introduced a special charge of SEK 1.28 / EUR 0.128 per meter of van. As of July 1, 2010 only oil with a max. of 1.0% content of sulphur must be used at sea. This change will also increase the ferry companies' costs, for which they will have to compensate. We shall inform you of the extent of this later on. However, as a result of the changes valid as of January 1, 2010 we shall as of February 1, 2010 have to introduce a MARPOL charge for shipments to / from Norway and Sweden. 0.35% of the freight / minimum DKK 9.00 per shipment. We regret these additional costs, but they are unfortunately beyond our control. 2009-12-05 Every year Morsø Bank awards an entrepreneur prize to a company in the bank’s market area, in order to appreciate an entrepreneur’s work and appreciate the employees’ efforts in the company. This year the prize was awarded Interfjord A/S. Half of the prize of 15,000 Danish kroner is earmarked to employee activities. Press Release Interfjord A/S in Glyngøre is awarded Morsø Bank’s entrepreneur prize 2009 A couple of years ago Morsø Bank introduced an entrepreneur prize within the bank’s market area in mid and western Jutland – as a yearly award in November. The purpose of the prize is to appreciate an entrepreneur’s work and to appreciate the collaborators’ efforts within the company. The prize amounts to 15,000 Danish kroner, and half of the amount must be used for employee activities. All entrepreneurs and newly started independent undertakings in the bank’s operation area can be nominated for the prize. The winner of the prize in 2009 has just been elected among 17 nominated candidates – and it is Interfjord A/S in Glyngøre. 4 equal partners The family company of Interfjord Spedition A/S was established back in 1990. In January 2007 four partners got the possibility of taking over all activities of this company. Three of them, Henrik Markussen, Jens Holmgaard Pedersen and Claus Laustsen were already working as forwarding agents at Interfjord Spedition A/S, and together with Casper Christensen, who came from another company, they now as equal partners established Interfjord A/S. The new forwarding agency was in principle a rebuilding of the former concept: to arrange for transport in the best and cheapest way, and since then they developed the concept to include more products and more customers on the global transport market. The strength is flexibility We had a really good start, says one of the partners, Jens Holmgaard Pedersen. Our strength on a hard transport market is no doubt that we are flexible. True, we have our own vans in charter, but via sub-contractors and collaborators both in Denmark and abroad we are able to offer transport solutions both with van, ship and plane adapted for the needs of the individual customer. Thus we are a pure trading partner, who always finds the cheapest transport on any occasion. The personal contact and the individual treatment of the customers is what we weight the most, and if anything negative happens during a transportation then we are contacting the customer, not the opposite. We are following the goods all the way from departure to receipt, mostly on the internet, of course. Doubling of turnover and number of employees We arrange for transport worldwide, and we have doubled our turnover during the two years we acted on the market, and the number of employees is now more than twice as much as it was when Interfjord A/S was established. The employees are no doubt our most important asset, says Jens Holmgaard Pedersen, and the four partners will always go in front in the struggle to maintain our share on the market. We all have many years of experience in our field, we go for at common goal, and although we do not always agree to everything, and of course have our our opinions, we never doubt as to what way we are going. More departments Local support – global transport, being the motto of the company, also means the establishment of departments outside Glyngøre. Thus Interfjord A/S last year opened a department near Viborg with a staff of 4 by now, and this is with the wish of being local also there where the company establishes a department, and thus copying the local success to other places. A department in Frederikshavn also came to in 2009, where a person with great local competence is in charge, tells Jens Holmgaard Pedersen. Thus Interfjord A/S always sees new possibilities on the market. The company dares in times of crisis, where others are maybe more cautious. An aggressive sales policy has had the effect that from being a company not known by too many, Interfjord A/S is today an ambitious, well-reputed, growing company. Idea and success are crucial For the last two years the entrepreneur prize was awarded a Herning company, in 2007 Averhoff Energi Anlæg A/S, and last year Quick Care A/S. It is the entrepreneur’s idea and success which are the crucial points for choosing the winner. The company must be situated in the bank’s market area, but beyond that the geographical location has no effect on our decision whatsoever, says managing director of Morsø Bank, Torben Sørensen. The jury consists of the bank’s branch managers together with representatives of the trade councils in the bank’s market areas. The story of Interfjord A/S is a real success story of a company which manages to cope within the hard forwarding branch, also in times of crisis. By means of hard work and by daring and in close dialogue with the customers the company has gained a foothold as a good and serious collaborator, and at the same time the object of still being locally rooted is intact, says Torben Sørensen. Therefore, Interfjord A/S is a most worthy recipient of Morsø Bank’s Entrepreneur Prize 2009. Managing Director Torben Sørensen, Morsø Bank, said in his speech in connection with the presentation: “Morsø Bank introduced a couple of years ago an entrepreneur prize in the bank’s market area in mid and western Jutland – as a yearly award in November. The purpose of the prize is to appreciate an entrepreneur’s work and to appreciate the employees’ efforts within the company. The prize amounts to 15,000 Danish kroner, and half of the amount must be used for employee activities. All entrepreneurs and newly started independent undertakings in the bank’s operation area can be nominated for the prize. The jury, which consists of the bank’s branch managers in cooperation with representatives of the local trade councils, came on a hard job. A total of 17 nominations all over the bank’s market area came in on Morsø Bank’s home page. However, upon thorough discussions and research the jury had no doubt: Morsø Bank’s Entrepreneur Prize 2009 goes to Interfjord A/S , Glyngøre. Through hard times you four partners dare, already when in January 2007 you bought the activities of Interfjord Spedition A/S and established Interfjord A/S. Since then the forwarding agency has advanced by leaps and bounds, and the staff has been increased from 8 to 17 in two years. Your arranging of a wide range of products of high quality and service on the international transport market has caught on, and new departments have come to, one in Løgstrup near Viborg, and in 2009 another, in Frederikshavn. Previously, the company was not known by so many, but today it stands as well-established in a severe transport industry. You have gained a foothold, even in times of crisis, not at least due to hard work on your part. Your weighting of the close individual dialogue with your customers, and your aim of still being locally rooted and to keep your position as a good and serious collaborator having the calibre to serve customers worldwide are also positive elements, which the jury emphasized in their selection. Your motto: “local support – global transport” is met 100%. Therefore, branch manager Arne Søndergaard from the bank’s head office in Nykøbing, please present Interfjord A/S with Morsø Bank’s entrepreneur prize 2009.” And managing director of Interfjord A/S, Jens Holmgaard Pedersen, repaid upon the presentation with these words: “Thank you very much for the fine prize and the nice words. Until 3 years ago Interfjord A/S was a family business. Today we are a partner-owned company. We got the possibility of making an early alternation of generations within the company. We saw large possibilities in making the company into a partner-owned one. Thus we bought the name of INTERFJORD and its activities – and established a new company, INTERFJORD A/S. Our motto is Local Support – Global Transport”. The equal partnership consists of our colleague since 1993, financial manager and operational manager for Scandinavian Service, Claus Laustsen. Our colleague since 2003 and by then newly-skilled assistant and today operational manager for Global Service, Henrik Markussen, and our man from the outside with 10 years’ of experience from the air freight business, sales manager Casper Christensen, and myself. We are so glad we seized the opportunity. We are determined and a fine supplement to one another. The common aims and ideas, we all have for the company, have until now given us some fine results. Not only local customers, but also customers outside our local area, have welcomed us. Their loyalty helps us on our way, and we profit from this during times when the wind blows with greater force. We have grown from 8 to 17 employees, and we established branches near Viborg and in Frederikshavn. We have a good team of professional and competent employees, who are very much committed to their work. It is totally deserved that the prize also goes to them. Our results had not been created without them. However, trees do not grow into heaven – therefore, we are also a bit humble, not at least when we receive such a fine prize. We will continue the good work, and also in future we will protect our concept and the good values. We thank Morsø Bank for the fine cooperation. We appreciate the local cooperation, and we are happy for a local bank, which is the promotor of a number of local actitivities. You support the local companies in their activities. You also support various associations and sports clubs, and they enjoy your support. On the island of Mors we have league handball, thanks to Morsø Bank. Once more, thank you very much for the prize, and we are looking forward to cooperating also in future.” 2009-09-01 Introduction of environmental charge as at September 1, 2009 Like other companies INTERFJORD also experiences rising demands as to the environment, amongst others environmentally sound transport. As a consequence of this we experience more costs for sorting and disposal of packaging from our offices and terminals, and larger costs for the main part of our suppliers, e.g. carriers, couriers and air and sea freight providers. Therefore, we have decided to introduce an environmental charge as at September 1, 2009. The environmental charge amounts to: Courier express and economy: Danish kroner 18 per transit Van, air and sea freight: Danish kroner 42 per transit 2009-06-01 We are glad to welcome Johan Schmidt Klausen as a new employee with INTERFJORD. Johan started with Interfjord as at June 1, and after the summer holidays he starts his education as forwarding agent. 2009-05-18 New employee and opening of a new department in Frederikshavn! By the middle of May we have recruited Hans Thomsen as Branch Manager to our newly opened department at Havnepladsen, Frederikshavn.Hans Thomsen has worked within the forwarding business since 1979, and thus it is an experienced and skilled forwarding agent, who will be the leader of our new department. Hans Thomsen will service both old and new customers on the Swedish market. Eventually, our plan is to carry on our products from Global Service to the northern part of Jutland also, and thus our total product range will be introduced to Frederikshavn and to the rest of northern Jutland as well. We welcome Hans Thomsen to our company, and our hope and wishes are that both new and old customers and collaborators will welcome him as well. |
